About The Event
Stella Cleo Turnbull was a Girl Scout Junior in fourth grade at Harmony Elementary School. Stella was a brave, creative, kind, adventurous person who loved life and was always willing to try new things. She was known as an incredibly thoughtful person who would stand up for those who were unable to stand up for themselves, someone who would wait for the rest of the class to get paired up for a project and ask to work with the person who didn’t have a partner in the end.
In addition to her thoughtfulness, Stella was brave and embraced her own unique style. She shaved funky lines into her hair and refused to wear pink; she was fierce and fearless and loved trying new things. She also adored animals and had an uncanny ability to sound just like a dog barking or a horse neighing.
On November 11, 2017, Stella joined her Girl Scout troop for a sleepover. After an amazing evening of earning a badge, eating ice cream and telling ghost stories, Stella fell asleep surrounded by her friends. Sadly, an underlying health condition affected Stella while she was sleeping, and the brightness of her star on earth faded. On November 14th, Stella granted one final act of giving and courage, in donating her organs to others so they could live.
To honor Stella’s birthday (which is on February 25), we invite you to help assemble birthday bags for residents of Gillis. At the event, we will hear about the children from Cornerstones of Care that will be blessed with the birthday bags; the kids will have the opportunity to decorate a birthday crown, and we will assemble and box up the birthday bags so that they will be ready for delivery! We ask that you please consider donating supplies for the birthday bags or a monetary donation so that KindCraft can purchase supplies for the event. We estimate the birthday bags to cost about $10 each. Please join us in encouraging children to be compassionate and to keep Stella's giving spirit alive by participating in this Birthday Bag event!
