About The Event

This is a self-led family project.  Please register by September 27.

The Love Fund for Children has a mission of helping build a stronger Kansas City Community in which every child lives a life without need. One of their many programs is called Sack it for Santa. KindCraft will be helping to fill sacks for TEENS.

The majority of the teens who receive the bags from Sack It for Santa are underprivileged. For the majority, the bag is their only gift. Many come from single parent homes or live with grandparents/guardians.

Most agencies/churches/programs focus on toys for younger children. Sack It for Santa only distributes bags to children aged 12-18 who are often overlooked or don't qualify. It has been identified that disadvantaged teens (12-18) are always forgotten at Holiday time. They are dealing with harsh life situations and very fragile egos. Through Sack It for Santa 2020 more than 500 teens will get to have a Christmas even though their family can't afford it.

In previous years, the Love Fund for Children has partnered with local companies, CVS Pharmacies and their patrons to fill glossy, red, Sack It for Santa gift bags for teens. The empty bags were picked up from local businesses then the filled sacks were dropped at the same locations.

Due to COVID-19, local businesses are not wanting to encourage additional traffic in their stores or to store items from patrons.

This is why KindCraft needs to help! We can help make these teens' holiday a little brighter AND teach your children a bit about compassion for others!  Our mission is to create a community of compassionate children so we really want this experience to be about YOUR CHILDREN developing compassion for others and LESS about parents shopping on Amazon for a gift that you briefly mention to your kids in passing at dinner one night. We want your kids to be ACTIVELY INVOLVED. That is why with your registration, you will receive an activity sheet that your family will complete together in order to help build empathy for others.

There are four 2020 themes to choose for your bag:

Art Ideas:

  • sketch pad
  • washi tape
  • craft kit/art supplies (in kit or separate): markers, paints, paint brushes, colored pencils

Game Ideas:

  • Board game
  • Trivia game
  • Card game

Spa/Beauty Ideas

  • scented body wash and lotion
  • face masks
  • nail polish set
  • lip gloss set

Sports Ideas

  • football/basketball/soccer ball
  • drawstring bag
  • refillable water bottle

The items listed add up to approximately $40 which is our goal gift amount for each bag. These are ideas to get you started, but you can be creative with your shopping as well. Please just keep the TEEN age in mind when shopping. The Love Fund will supply a hygiene kit, 2 pairs of socks, a hat and gloves for each bag in addition to the gifts KindCraft members purchase.

Completed bags are due Sunday, October 11 by 5pm.

The activity sheet and more detailed information regarding bag drop-off will be emailed to you after we received your registration for the bag(s) of your choice.
