Book Donations

Have gently used children's books you want to donate? We have done some research and think these would make for great places to donate gently used books.

Church of the Resurrection

The Resurrection BookMobile Ministry is one of their initiatives aimed at Closing the Opportunity Gap for children in Kansas City. Through our partner schools, we distribute over 60,000 books to students throughout the Kansas City Metro each year.

They take gently used books with no markings for kids aged pre-k through elementary age.

Friends of Johnson County Library

The Friends of Johnson County Library is a member-supported group promoting community awareness of and involvement in Johnson County Library. They serve as Library advocates,  raise supplemental funds, and foster literacy and lifelong learning.

  • Gently-used adult and kids’ books of all types

  • Cookbooks? Yes, those are books!

  • Textbooks? Absolutely. We love textbooks.

  • Repair manuals? Yep – if it’s a book, we take it.

  • DVDs

  • Music CDs

  • Audiobooks on CD

  • LPs

  • Complete puzzles

Reach Out and Read

The Reach Out and Read Kansas City program works to ensure as many children as possible in the Kansas City area are provided with books of their own and enter school ready to succeed.

Reach Out and Read

Reading is Everywhere-Lead to Read KC

Reading is Everywhere is Lead to Read KC’s community book distribution initiative that encourages children to read wherever they are. They strategically place baskets of books in places where children are often waiting. A full listing of our partner locations is below. Reading is Everywaer-Lead to Read KC encourages children to take their favorite book home and for caregivers to take a book to a child in their life. Each month, Lead to Read KC replenishes the baskets with new books. During the 2022-2023 school year, they distributed more than 10,000 books!
