Free Hot Soup and Sandwich Making

Another successful night of teaching our children to be compassionate to others! Tonight, KindCraft partnered with Dallas Bauer and Free Hot Soup to make sandwiches for those in need. Our goal was to make a max of 950 sandwiches and allow as many families as possible to participate in the event. Well we had about 100 KindCrafters make nearly 1200 sandwiches!

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, salami, ham, turkey-you name it, they made it! A HUGE shoutout to Dallas’ butcher friend who cut 70 POUNDS of meat for us. Thank you to Dallas Bauer for allowing children to help in making the sandwiches so that we could teach them about being compassionate!

Free Hot Soup Johnson County is a group of people who have the same heart for those who are unhoused and/or food insecure. They have a weekly “Picnic in the Park with Friends” every Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Mill Creek Park in Olathe. They also provide these friends with essential items that help keep them as safe and healthy as possible.

Sandwiches are essential to the weekly picnics because they are one of the items their friends take away from the picnics in order to eat later. Free Hot Soup does not make sandwiches with allergies in mind because their friends with allergies are able to choose the type of sandwiches they would like. The recipients appreciate all that they receive, and we are grateful for the chance to be a part of their lives.
