Squeeze the Day!

The Montgomery family has participated in our summer service project of hosting a lemonade stand to raise money that is then used to purchase toy cars for children in the hospital through Henry’s Haul.
This year they decided to do their lemonade stand in conjunction with their garage sale.
A blind man from down the street heard of the sale and used his phone to navigate his way to their house so that he could donate a dollar. He was so moved by their kindness and generosity that he went home and wrote a poem.

Good day, gardener
I wandered to a stand,
sisters beneath the sun,
selling lemonade,
golden nectar of summer.
There, in the warmth,
I met Ellery,
a gentle soul,
her smile a petal
unfurling in the breeze,
kindness spilling over
like the chilled drink she offered,
each drop a testament
to compassion,
the sweetness of her heart,
a garden in bloom.
In Gardner, she blossoms,
roots deep in the soil of her community,
nurturing others like a rose bush,
each act a careful pruning,
each word a ray of light
to uplift the weary.
Oh, how she tends to the world,
hands stained with love,
weaving threads of joy
into the fabric of everyday life,
reminding us that tenderness
is the softest bloom,
and every small gesture,
a seed planted in the hearts
of those who are fortunate
to share in her kindness.
So here’s to you, Ellery,
the heart of Gardner,
a garden of generosity,
may your spirit continue to flourish,
spreading warmth under
the wide and watchful sky.
Several KindCraft kids hosted stands all over the Johnson County area. Pictured below is the Lyons Cubs Lemonade Stand, created by the Lyons siblings. Their mom told us they can't wait to do this again. She was proud of their independence and excited with their results.
She said, "My kids really did do this all with little help from me! They are 7, 6 and 5 years old. They wanted to set everything up, help the customers, explain the cause and take the donations all on their own. We had someone give $100 after finding out what they were doing and we were able to go purchase more cars which made them ecstatic!"
KindCraft kids from Olathe, Spring Hill, Prairie Village, Mission and Overland Park hosted lemonade stands to help others. Many found success in pairing their stand with a garage sale.
Whether they were able to purchase 5 cars or 100 cars, they are ALL winners in our book. Any child willing to work hard to help someone else is demonstrating empathy for others and selflessness. We are excited to continue our mission of creating a community of compassionate children through monthly service projects!
Take a look back at some of the lemonade stands we have hosted in the past here.
